Tanaq Support Services (TSS) delivers professional, scientific, and technical services and information technology (IT) solutions to federal agencies in health, agriculture, technology, and other government services. About the Role
We are seeking a Business Analyst to support a Public Health Data Modernization Initiative at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The Business Analyst will utilize their health or public health experience to work closely with the customers in gathering and documenting requirements along with the IT team to develop systems to specifications. The Business Analyst will also provide leadership to the team in all phases of application development. This role will coordinate with business and technology teams to ascertain system requirements.
Responsibilities

• Leads efforts to analyze, design, and document requirements for new IT solutions and enhancements to existing applications
• Supports requirements-gathering, development of and/or defining logical workflows and process documentation, and development of mechanisms and tools to share information, processes and procedures, resources, and materials.
• Functions as the Subject Matter Expert for applications and standards by translating business processes into technical solutions, ensuring solutions are consistent with objectives
• Create detailed current and future state diagrams
• Collaborate with team members and Customer representatives to create requirements artifacts that adhere to outlined standards
• Provides analysis of workflows, processes, systems, data, anomalies, pain points, etc.
• Analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: Software Requirements Specification, Business Process Models, Data Flow Diagrams, System Process Models, Formal Use Case models and Traceability Matrix
• Prepare documentation, diagrams and recommendation of different solution alternatives for executive decision making
• Maintain and create the artifacts and documentation from the blueprint and design phases for a clear and actionable execution plan set up by the program lead
• Prepare organized backlog of user stories, clearly communicating what needs to be done and priority
• Provides support to team(s) of developers
• Facilitates meetings and discussion as needed during the project lifecycle
• Ensures compliance with CDC and HHS security development standards

Requirements: Required Experience and Skills

• 4 years of experience working as a Business Analyst, demonstrating strong analytical skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
• 3 years of experience collaborating with customers to document business requirements, functional specifications, and business rules for modifications to software application and ensure alignment with expectations of the customers/stakeholders and the desired outcomes
• Experience writing well-organized backlog of user stories, and clearly communicating what needs to be done along with priority
• Strong business acumen and a deep strategic mindset
• Demonstrated experience in translating technical content into formats written in plain language and easy to understand
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
• Proven ability to integrate with a team and work well with others
• Must have customers’ best interest in mind
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts
• Ability to obtain government clearance

Preferred Requirements

• Experience working within an Agile development methodology
• Experience with analysis, visualization and reporting software and capabilities
• Experience of CDC culture, mission, and IT environment
• Experience working with CDC data system

Education and Training

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Communications, Public Health or related field with a minimum of 4 years of experience
