POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for the development, execution, and management of a robust financial and operational reporting strategy for the Credit Union. Working with business and technology teams, establish and operationalize the Credit Union’s reporting capabilities to fully utilize a modern data warehouse structure. These responsibilities include partnering with the technology teams to ensure that the reporting foundations are robust, scalable, flexible, while being subject to solid control framework. This position will also be responsible for ensuring that data governance standards are met for all financial reporting deliverables. Works with the business units to build a data-driven culture, designed to provide accurate, timely, and relevant information to senior leadership and the organization. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES*

  • Oversee the Credit Union’s business intelligence activities, as well as participate and provide leadership support and guidance in implementing data analytics and data governance initiatives.
  • Direct and coordinate the planning, organization, control, and development of business intelligence, analytics, reporting, and data integration impacting reporting and analyses.
  • Serve as the Finance lead in the implementation and rollout of the Credit Union’s data warehouse solution.
  • Partner with and provide leadership to all business lines to establish, review, and validate financial reporting standards and processes.
  • Provide leadership to the Business Analysts; develop a highly functional team through coaching, goal setting, and a commitment to employee growth and development.
  • Partner with Data Engineering and Management to identify and implement software and systems that best fulfill SAFE’s report creation and analytic needs.
  • Review and provide feedback on all data ingestion and integration projects.
  • Support the implementation of reporting governance controls around all financial and operational reporting.
  • Use creative problem-solving to research and help implement the automation the collection and analysis from available data sources in order to deliver actionable output/reports.
  • Understand and be able to communicate the overall data ecosystem of SAFE.
  • Participate in, coordinate, and provide leadership to govern and set policy and standards regarding the use of data and analytics in the organization, including how data is organized and structured in the Credit Union’s data repositories and ensuring data is consistently accurate.
  • Apply reporting best practices; play a critical role in building a data-driven culture throughout the entire organization.
  • Provide guidance on the execution of data delivery strategies, including strategies for data delivery, reporting tools, self-service capabilities, etc.
  • Ensure compliance and full use of SAFE’s data dictionary tool.
  • Manage the ServicePro reporting requests.
  • Work with business partners to develop practices for evolving SAFE’s data delivery function, using capabilities like cubes and data mining techniques.
  • Work closely with product managers, lines of business, digital banking, marketing, and information technology (IT) groups, to determine/understand data needs and to develop a channel analytics environment that ensures results are easily accessible and interpreted to satisfy business requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS*
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Accounting, Finance, IT, Business Administration or Mathematics and a minimum of 8 years of related experience. Eight or more years working in a multi-disciplined role that requires both knowledge of financial reporting concepts (GAAP, DCF, Allowance), and data structures and methods (T-SQL, PL/SQL, Python, DAX/MDX, ETL process, etc.) Five years of experience delivering financial reporting using multiple platforms (Power BI, SSRS, Excel, Tableau, etc.).

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to successfully manage and prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.

  • Superior problem-solving, data, presentation, and analytical skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills required. PowerPivot and PowerQuery software skills preferred.
  • Experience with complex SQL joins, views, stored procedures, and other relational database concepts.
  • Ability to quickly learn financial software applications, as well as various types financial and operational data across multiple lines of business.
  • Knowledge of star schema and schema
  • Microsoft Power BI, SSIS, Analysis Services / tabular data modeling
  • Intermediate data visualization software skills using BI tools a plus.
  • Experience in developing policies, procedures, and processes that ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Appropriately handles sensitive and confidential information.
  • Microsoft Azure, NoSQL, and Snowflake experience a plus.
