Job description
- Handle purchasing assignments, RFP’s, RFQ’s, and RFI’s, as assigned.
- Prepare purchase orders in accordance with existing purchasing policies.
- Respond to requestors in a timely manner when information is needed or informs Purchasing Management as required.
- Advise the Director or Assistant Director of any possible supply problems, including credit holds.
- Maintain current pricing and catalog information for all commodities and services when placing orders.
- Act as buying agent for the Medical Center by means of salespersons, telephone or mail.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of all departmental files.
- Responsible for recommending and researching new vendors.
- Correspond with vendors to overcome any misunderstandings and complaints.
- Review, evaluate, and report on the Open/Pending Order files.
- Works as a liaison with departments requesting items for trial and evaluation.
- Handle any special assignments which may be delegated.
- Process requisitions, research products, clarify.
- Performs other duties as requested.

Associate College Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum of three (3) years prior purchasing experience.

Proficient Microsoft Office and recordkeeping skills essential.

Good interpersonal and negotiating skills.

Basic data entry skills with emphasis on accuracy.

Familiarity with medical terms helpful.
Ability to fully utilize BHMC’s electronic record systems, equipment and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.
- Position requires prolonged periods of sitting and use of a computer and screen viewing throughout the working day.
- Position will be required to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
