CAPS Director of Early Literacy (K-5)
Overall description: Reporting to the Chief Academic Officer (CAO) or his designee, the Director of Early Literacy will facilitate the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of the Savvas MyView Literacy program (K-5) and Literacy intervention centers at all elementary campuses.

Education and Certification

  • Teacher certification
  • Administrative certification preferred
  • Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees required

Knowledge and skills

  • Thorough knowledge of effective professional development including coaching and mentoring
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Extensive knowledge of technology and instructional application including the Science of Reading (SoR)
  • Extensive knowledge of NJDOE standards
  • Campus-based Leadership
  • Knowledge of federal and state compliance and requirements

Experience

  • Minimum three years of early childhood/early literacy curriculum and instruction experience
  • Minimum five years of campus/district leadership experience

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support Network K-5 ELA Grade Level Leads and support leaders and coaches supporting with the ELA program
  • Support in the recruitment of high-quality teachers

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversee all aspects of the elementary literacy programs management and execution of CAPS overall vision for early literacy education
  • Develop and revise K-5 curriculum as needed
  • Assist with planning, implementation, and classroom organization to facilitate language, literacy, and development for K-5 students
  • Develop and conduct professional development sessions, including methods for supporting K-5 students and current best practices
  • Provide elementary literacy training K-5 based on SoR research
  • Develop and direct continuing evaluations of the K-5 programs using a created blueprint that guides network expectations
  • Provide assistance and support to campuses on program assessments, self-assessments, program planning
  • Collaborate with Sp.ED and ELL support staff at each campus
  • Oversee the programs’ compliance with all applicable regulations
  • Maintain a campus visit schedule to (a) monitor and guide implementation integrity, (b) coach, and (c) facilitate grade-level ELA meetings
  • Analyze student achievement data and use the analysis to guide teams in improving various aspects of implementation
  • Track all visits and proactively communicate frequently with school-based leaders, the 6-12 Director of ELA, and the Academic Committee
  • Summarize major successes and challenges periodically at meetings of various leadership groups
  • Work with the IT department in addressing and meeting the needs of the programs for IT support and equipment
  • Assist in the selection and purchase of supplemental equipment and supplies for the program
  • Carry out other duties assigned by the CAO or designee

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $120,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
