The American Meteorological Society (AMS) is seeking a Career Services Associate to assist with administration of AMS certification programs. This position reports directly to the Director of Career Development. This full-time position can be fully remote; our preference is for a candidate in the Boston area.


In this position you will:


  • Process certification applications and work with certification Boards and Committees
  • Track and maintain professional development requirements (send reminder emails, late notices, audit information, and other correspondence to certification holders)
  • Assist with the writing and editing of e-newsletters
  • Answer inquiries about AMS certification programs and other general career services including job and intern boards, mentoring, course requirements, and professional development opportunities
  • Assist with writing, creating and editing of web content on the Career Development site
  • Maintain and monitor AMS certification program social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn)
  • Write social media content and create promotional graphics through Canva for podcasts, webinars and short courses
  • Use Sprout social media platform to schedule social media content
  • Assist with the development of career-related information material for students and prospective job seekers such as podcasts, webinars, and career profiles
  • Co-host monthly Clear Skies Ahead careers podcast
  • Assist webinar and short course organizers with logistics and promotions
  • Help maintain the AMS Career Advising Portal


Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Experience handling multiple responsibilities and prioritizing tasks
  • Proficient in Microsoft products (such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude


Desired Qualifications:


  • Experience providing career assistance to students and graduates
  • Experience with coordinating webinars, short courses, podcasts, and other professional development activities
  • Experience with science education

This is a full-time position and salary will be commensurate with experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision coverage, paid vacation, sick time, 12 paid holidays, and a generous retirement plan. We have reopened our Boston office; this position is based in Boston but will have an option for a hybrid or fully remote work arrangement.
