Job description
Maintain the campus buildings envelop, interiors, doors, door closures, restroom patricians, windows, and exterior spaces. Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions. Promote the ethical application of building maintenance and repairs.
Essential Functions
Performs work on structural repairs needed on campus buildings, infrastructure, sidewalks, and roads.
Performs work involved in the construction, alteration, repair and maintenance of buildings and other structures. Including artistic displays, picture frames, and event promotional items.
Examines blueprints to determine dimensions of structure and lays out plans for the work.
Inspects and repairs materials and structural units such as ceiling tiles, flooring, prefabricated doors, paneling, window coverings, and classroom aids.
Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, quality of product, and working conditions to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
Creates a safe work environment for all employees including using tools and aids such as PPE, MDS and Job Hazard Analysis.
Review blueprints, building codes and specifications to determine work details, procedures, including ADA standards and methods.
Controls inventories truck shop supplies, machinery and equipment. Immediately report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
Know the shop budget.
Use the shop process map to consistently perform and close out work orders.
Determine material requirements per work order. Update superiors on materials and supplies needed for daily use and future needs.
Must be available on an “On Call” and after regular hours including work for the support of events and emergencies.
Coordinates with other trades and department supervisors on work projects when necessary including emergency calls.
Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, quality of product, and working conditions to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
Able to learn and use institutional software systems.
Complies with all State and University policies.
Other duties may be assigned.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two years of experience, related to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and must be insurable as defined in the UT System BPM 16-05-02, as applicable to the performance of essential duties and responsibilities of the position.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. May be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment to include: Special Safety Shoes, hardhat, back belt, eye protection, ear protection, respirator mask and dust mask, and leather or rubber gloves.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock, work with explosives, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
