Carpet installerJob Summary:
Performs skilled carpentry work in the maintenance and repair of buildings and facilities, and related work as required. Job Duties: Works from drawings or verbal instructions and operates a variety of carpentry hand and power tools or equipment, such as hand saw, mortiser, drill press and wood lathe. Remodels and repairs cabinets, counters, shelves, tables and miscellaneous furniture. Replaces and repairs door closures and locks. Alters and repairs a variety of building structures such as walls, partitions, doorways, window frames, stairways and roofs. Installs window glass and screens; applies wall and floor covering materials. Installs ceramic and other types of tile. Refinishes furniture and paints and stains building interiors and exteriors. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Estimates time and material costs on carpentry projects and requisitions new carpentry materials and equipment.
Experience and Education:
Performs work under minimal supervision. Handles complex issues and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter. Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group. May act as a lead or first-level supervisor. Typically requires accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program and 4 to 6 years of experience.

Typically reports to a department head or manager.
