The role you’ll contribute:
This position contributes to the AdventHealth vision to achieve a world-class Revenue Cycle and foster a positive culture of Revenue Integrity, with focus on ensuring optimal reimbursement of entitled revenue, and providing support for clinical and revenue integrity teams across the organization. The CDM Coordinator works collaboratively in a team environment providing support to the CDM team, (particularly the CDM Financial Analyst) and actively communicating and presenting pertinent information to the CDM and larger Revenue Integrity teams. This position will report directly to the CDM Manager. The CDM Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the CDM and related processes follow and comply with Federal/State guidelines, while also ensuring that the CDM is accurately reflecting all line items correctly for billing to payers and patients across the organization. This position has overall responsibility for maintenance of CDM items and works in coordination with Reimbursement, AIT, Finance, HIM/Coding and clinical departments. The CDM Coordinator works collaboratively with Revenue Integrity in the development, execution, and follow-up of education. This position may have direct supervision responsibilities of the CDM Analysts, including supporting requests for additions/deletions/modifications to the CDM and helping to build in the EAP Pre-PROD environment. Additionally, the CDM Coordinator will help to determine necessary process changes related to any CDM modifications. The CDM Coordinator will also support CDM Maintenance, which will include periodic review of coding accuracy. This position will continue to grow and adapt as required to achieve AdventHealth's vision of a world-class revenue cycle.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
- Ensures that coding, revenue codes, description nomenclature, patient billable versus non-billables, catalog development and updates (add/delete/change) for all CDM items are appropriate and verified through feedback from Revenue Cycle leadership
- Maintains awareness of new regulatory requirements and reimbursement changes at both the State and Federal levels to adjust charging practices, information system rules with Revenue Cycle applications, in collaboration with AIT Charge Services.
- Regulatory Research:
- Confirms actual regulatory guidance concerning medical service charge practices.
- Identifies HCPCS code and associated revenue codes as appropriate for primary payers
- Maintains a detailed knowledge of both CMS inpatient and outpatient prospective payment systems.
- Assists the CDM team in making yearly and quarterly coding and charge configuration changes.
- Assesses and processes all requested additions and changes to the CDM and works with the requesting clinical department's leadership and Revenue Integrity team to determine whether a process change(s) will be required
- Responsible for final review and approval of CDM changes before processing into the EAP; Confirms charge appropriately represents clinical services or procedure prior to creation for billing use Ensures maintenance and reconciliation of CDM updates by collaborating with AIT
- Coordinates the CDM approval process
- Collaborates with Quality & Compliance, Revenue Integrity and Finance staff on annual department CPT/HCPCS coding and CDM maintenance updates to coincide with CMS', commercial insurers', and other payers' updates
- Coordinates ongoing monitoring to identify billing and system logic opportunities related to the CDM and prepares summary of findings to CDM management
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelors and 3+ years experience
Preferred qualifications:
- Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) or Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) Epic Charge Router and EAP certifications
- Experience in chargemaster, billing or finance support
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Windows; especially Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint
- Willing to travel up to 10% as needed
- Ability to synthesize and communicate complex and diverse information
- Working knowledge of patient billing processes, chart/bill audits or ability to abstract medical information
