Medical Assistant Needed in Philadelphia, PA
Correctional Facility Position
The Medical Assistant assists with the daily operations of the clinic, medical unit, and laboratory, as directed.
JOB DUTIES
1. Monitors patient vital signs
2. Implements orders for diagnostic lab tests according to site policy, The Joint Commission, NCCHC standards, and ACA standards
3. Maintains inventory of supplies
4. Assists the RN or LVN/LPN as needed in the medical unit within scope of practice
5. Maintains confidentiality of medical records
6. Documents in SOAP format all health-related encounters for patients
7. Records EKGs as directed by nurse
8. Assists physician with minor procedures
9. Maintains and cleans medical unit/equipment on a daily basis and as needed
10. Works in conjunction with the nurse to maintain daily duties required to run the clinic in an organized fashion
11. Assists with maintaining eCW and other recordkeeping
12. Obtains specimens as directed and in accordance to policies and procedures within the scope of practice
13. Utilizes infection control techniques in a consistent manner
14. Attends mandatory monthly staff meetings
15. Collects data for Quality Improvement programs, as assigned
16. Maintains a professional attitude and demeanor at all times, following Corizon Health and PPS policies and procedures.
17. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of a medical assistant program from a vocational, technical or career school
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a health care setting, preferably correctional health care
- Maintains BCLS
