Certified Medical Assistant I
Job description
Atlantic Health System is seeking an exciting opportunity for an experienced Certified Medical Assistant I (CMA) in our Orthopedics office in Rockaway, NJ apart of Atlantic Medical Group.
Our entry level offers start at $21.10 / hour and increase based upon experience.
Responsibilities
- Reviews daily appointment schedule with provider and develops a plan for patient care activities. Obtains Pre-Op paperwork, labs, referral consultation notes, and hospitalization and ED records prior to appointment
- Forwards clinical information to specialist at least 24hrs prior to scheduled appointment or procedure
- Processes lab letters, referrals and forms, and obtains prior authorizations for medications, referrals and tests per insurance requirements
- Tracks labs and referrals, scans and indexes appropriate documents, documents all communication with patient per EPIC standards
- Collaborates with team to accommodate same day requests, checks and responds to emails and pools daily
- Ensures work area is stocked with current forms for daily work and computer downtime. Demonstrates proficiency in the use of required computer systems
Qualifications
Qualifications/Requirements:
Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate physician schedule
- Effective interpersonal skills and demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Effective clinical skills appropriate for the ambulatory care setting
- Must demonstrate competency to include but not limited to blood pressure measurement, anthropometric data, syringe accuracy, PPD placement, intramuscular injection and subcutaneous injection
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or GED required
Education:
- Graduate of a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
License/Certifications:
- BLS certification required upon hire
- MA certification through AAMA, AMCA, AMT, NCCT, or NHA required
- BLS certification required upon hire
Relevant Experience:
- Post externship MA experience preferred
- EPIC EMR experience is a plus
