Open Door is seeking a full-time Certified Nurse Midwife for its Port Chester, NY site. This role will report to the Medical Director of Women’s Health as well as the Practice Site Administrator and will collaborate with the Women’s Health team to ensure outstanding patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide services to patients of adolescent and adult age groups.
  • Obtain, review and complete medical, family, and obstetrical history and physical data on OB patients.
  • Provide antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care to patients with uncomplicated pregnancies.
  • Perform obstetrical exams and record findings.
  • Assesses patients and prepare a plan of care.
  • Order, evaluate, and review appropriate laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures.
  • Participate in labor and delivery coverage and deliver gynecological care.
  • Administer medication when needed and instruct patients and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
  • Educate patients and family on obstetrical care.
  • Recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Provide immediate care to the newborn child.
  • Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
  • Inform supervisor or management of operating problems that may affect quality and standards of patient services.
  • If Designated as responsible for Bio Hazardous Waste removal, complete online training and receive certificate prior to completing this task.

  • Nurse Midwife Certification by the American College of Nursing-Midwives required.
  • 5+ years experience as a certified nurse midwife required.
  • Bilingual Spanish is preferred.
  • Knowledge of nurse midwifery and medical management to give and evaluate patient care.
  • Experience with normal and abnormal physiology and psychology of well women and parturient, including labor and delivery.
  • Strong ability in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence.
  • Must possess experience in verbal and written communications, clinical and case management, department operations, public relations, and superior customer service skills.
  • Passionate about providing high quality primary health care to low-income, under-served residents and those lacking access to health care.
