Job description
SUMMARY
Reporting to the CEO, serve as the strategic leader for business and financial planning, budget management, financial modeling and forecasting, financial reporting and analysis, internal controls, audit, asset management, annual budget process, benefit plans, and tax reporting. Provides overall executive leadership for the Finance, Accounting, Managed Care, Credentialing, and Revenue Cycle teams.
Serve as the primary contact for financial communications with the CEO, board members and external auditors. Serve as part of the leadership team to establish and meet financial and business plans.
Ensure financials are presented in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Lead the preparation of monthly variance analysis for executive management, the preparation of the consolidated financial statements, the budget process, and reconciliation of general ledger accounts. Participate in the Finance Committee meetings.
KEY RESULT AREAS (KRAs)
Develop and execute the short-term and long-range financial planning that is aligned with the overall strategic business plan for the company.
Lead the budgeting process to ensure annual operating and capital budgets support financial and organizational goals.
Works with operational leadership to track financial performance, and where necessary, develop corrective action plans.
Ensure that cash requirements are accurately reported, forecasted and communicated to Executive Leadership and the UCH Board of Directors.
Ensure financial policies and procedures are established and internal controls are in place to ensure that assets are protected and that all financial transactions are recorded appropriately, accurately, and timely.
Ensure financial and accounting records are complete and accurate and financial reports are prepared timely and in accordance with GAAP.
Complete all required audits appropriately and timely to meet reporting deadlines. Ensure that tax and regulatory reports are prepared in compliance with rules established by appropriate authorities.
Ensure that contracts with third party vendors are negotiated, tracked and reported appropriately.
Advise the Board of Directors of financial projections and trends. Monitors the fiscal performance on realizing its established plans and objectives and identifies and reports undesirable trends with remedial action recommendations to the CEO, Finance Committee and Board of Managers for final review and approval.
Serve as the primary contact for financial communications with banking and external auditors.
Ensure Revenue Cycle department and external vendors are accountable to agreed-upon performance standards and metrics.
Develops and implements standardized, integrated financial management systems, policies, procedures and internal controls for operations, development and delivery of financial training sessions to both finance and non-finance staff and partners.
Provide organized and routine oversight for and encouragement of financial coaching and education of UCH’s administrative and physician leadership team.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES, EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Comprehensive knowledge of:
- Health care financial operations management in a large, multi-specialty physician group practice.
- Finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Revenue cycle management, particularly pertaining to third party contracting, billing, and reimbursement activities.
- Automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
- Federal and state reporting requirements.
- Business principles and techniques of administration, organization, and management including an in-depth understanding of the key business issues that exist in the health care industry, particularly related to physician practices, teaching hospitals, medical schools and medical education. These include, but are not limited to, knowledge of strategic and operational planning, health care economics, financial management, personnel administration, federal and state, and local laws and regulations, and trends in the health care industry.

- A CPA REQUIRED and master’s degree in finance, health administration, business or other relevant experience. Has demonstrated a minimum of fifteen years progressive experience in healthcare financial roles, with a minimum of 7 years of direct supervisory experience.
