Job Description:

This position is a Civil Engineer/Designer supporting the United States Department of Energy’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve. Design and drafting of foundations for large equipment with associated access platforms is the primary function of this position. The candidate will work under the direction of a senior Professional Engineer. This position is primarily remote with site visits to the SPR’s four cavern locations in Texas and Louisiana are required several times a year.

Responsibilities include:

Work involves field verification, condition assessment, inspections, design, and drafting using AutoCAD software. Specific knowledge of civil/structural design required. General knowledge of architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and security system drawings is highly desirable. Duties include: reviewing existing drawings, merging multiple sets of drawings to create a consolidated set to be used for field verification, conducting field verification in existing facilities and documenting findings, performing field investigations by visual inspection as well as by using destructive or non-destructive methods, creation of updated record drawings in accordance with National CAD standards using existing drawings and findings of field verification and investigation, quality assurance/quality control activities, and researching/responding to Requests for Information (RFIs) from contractors. Must have a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.

Education and Qualifications:

B.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited school with EIT/PE Registration is preferred

A.A.S. in Computer-Aided Drafting & Design or equivalent is acceptable

Candidate must be a United States citizen

Applicant needs to be proficient in 3D AutoCAD modeling.

Applicant needs to be proficient in generating 2D AutoCAD construction drawings from which fabricators can build from.

Knowledge of REVIT software for building systems a plus.

Knowledge of National CAD Standards

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word

Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams

Experience:

5 years of experience in heavy industry/oil and gas design is required. Applicant must be proficient in both civil and structural design.

Architectural design experience is beneficial

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
