We are looking for Class A CDL Drivers who are reliable, safety conscious, and professional in their interactions with customers. We are also looking for drivers who are interested in a long-term career with us and who have a demonstrated history of longevity with previous employers.
This position is for an extra board driver to run dedicated routes between plants in PA, NJ, CT. Drivers are paid all time on duty not driving.
This is an extra board driver. Driver must be willing and able to start at any time and do local, regional work. All are dedicated routes. Driver will fill in for vacations, and last minute call offs or extra loads that come available from time to time. There are some Saturdays.
Deliver palletized freight to Avery customers, New Penn LTL, and pickup water based glue in Mill Hall, PA. Drivers without Hazmat will have to get it within 90 days. We reimburse after 90 days from endorsement.
JOB DUTIES
- Hook and unhook trailers from the tractor itself.
- Perform frequent lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying of boxes, and other packaged goods weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Inspect truck/trailer(s) for defects and safe operating condition before, during and after trips, and submit written report on the condition of the truck/trailers(s) at the end of each trip or tour of duty.
- Check shipping papers to determine the nature of product being transported, destination or delivery location and/or any special unloading instructions.
- Check for proper preparation of shipping papers, agreements, and special markings/labeling when hazardous materials are present.
- Use truck computer to monitor DOT compliance and delivery and pickup information.
- Drive truck to destinations in accordance with Federal regulations, normally in periods of up to 11 hours of driving followed by an off-duty period of at least 10 consecutive hours.
- Ensure all shipping documentation required to move with shipments is available for inspection and that appropriate paperwork accompanies shipment when delivered.
- Maintain records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations including: driver’s logs, records of fuel purchases, mileage records, and other documents required by law. This also includes the use of a truck computer for monitoring hours or service and delivery information.
- Report all accidents involving driver, company equipment, and/or private property. Report all safety hazards.
- Professional representation of the company and the trucking industry through practicing responsible, safe and defensive driving techniques.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Valid and current CDL
- Must be 24 years of age
- Minimum 3 years verifiable experience
- Good MVR
- Good Safety record and criminal record
- No DUI/DWI/Felony convictions
- Ability to meet all DOT requirements
- Tanker and Hazmat endorsements needed
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Weekly Guarantee of $1100. Up to $1700 per week when running team 5 days. Local pays $21.00 per hour, regional pays $.49 per mile. Teams split $.56 per mile.
