Responsibilities

Job Summary / Purpose

Under general supervision, the Radiologic Technologist (AART) II is responsible for operating equipment to make imagin films as directed by physicians and advanced practice clinicians and performs radiographic procedures for routine diagnosis and treatment purposes.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  • Produce and perform all diagnostic radiograph procedures, to be interpreted by the physician radiologist.
  • Position patients and adjust equipment for taking diagnostic images following established procedures.
  • Examine radiology film and/or digital exams for properties such as density and contrast, definition, magnification and distortion.
  • Take x-rays of various portions of the body in order to diagnosis disease or injury.
  • Follow safety principles, radiation protection, and the general comfort and care of the patient.
  • Record test results and monitors patient data.
  • Maintain radiographic log, in accordance with the policy, taking responsibility for documentation of exam, patient’s name, and/or retake reason.
  • Maintain separate report on all diagnostic x-rays.
  • Maintain accurate department records to satisfy both the state and federal regulations.
  • Calibrate and maintain x-ray equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education for Staff Job Levels


Associate degree from accredited school of radiologic technologist required.


Required Licensure and Certifications


Current/valid registration by the American Registry of Radiological Technology (ARRT) required. Iowa permit to practice. Mandatory Reporter.
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) required.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


Experienced

2 years clinical experience in radiologic technology


Pay Range

$19.68 - $27.06 /hour
