POSITION: Clinical Assistant Team Leader
REPORTS TO: Practice Manager
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting in the delivery of elective cosmetic services for patients and working under the supervision of the physicians. Responsible for leading a cohesive clinical assistant team, assigning duties, guiding team to meet clinical needs, coordinating assistant staff schedules, reviewing assistant staff performance and completing reporting information and administrative duties. Other responsibilities include patient education on treatment plans and medication. Ensures the patient is satisfied with elective skin care services and products recommended and continues to return to receive skin care treatment.
Responsibilities
- Cleanses skin as necessary
- Numbs patients with topical numbing as necessary
- Provides patients with instructions and educational materials that relate to their unique skin type and recommend adjustments to their skincare regiment as appropriate
- Determines patient skin care goals and objectives and recommends products and services that can reasonably facilitate attainment of those goals
- Seeks advice and supervision of physician as required on treatment protocols and notifies the physician of any patient noncompliance
- Responsible for the coordination of any correspondence to patients regarding their skin care treatment plan, product usage, or home care instructions
- Maintains patient medical records detailing all treatment procedures, elective products, medication history, and educational materials received
- Escorts patients to exam rooms in order of appointment times (when not in a treatment or assisting with a treatment). Obtains short history and vital signs as required by patient’s chief complaint. Obtains or updates medication list if necessary
- Sets up exam room according to scheduled procedure or anticipate physicians needs if non-scheduled procedure is likely
- Assists physician with laser procedures, CoolSculpting, biopsies and non-surgical or minimally invasive laser procedures
- Educates patient as required after physician establishes the treatment plan. Ensures that the patient understands the treatment plan, understands the proper use of their medications, and understands their responsibility for compliance with the treatment plan prior to leaving the office
- Follows up with patients after treatments, via phone, as necessary
- Straightens and cleans exam rooms after patient visits
- Stocks designated exam rooms with medical supplies and paperwork
- Monitors equipment to ensure proper operation and maintains said equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines
- Maintains treatment rooms and work areas in compliance with OSHA standards
- Participates and attends in-service educational programs and staff meetings
- Orders and stocks inventory and medical supplies as needed for maintaining treatment rooms and retail areas
- Performs all duties related to medical instrument cleaning and sterilization
- Notifies clinical staff of supplies needed to avoid shortages
- Performs other duties and tasks as needed
Requirements/Skills
- High school diploma; college degree preferred.
- Two-years experience in a medical office.
