The Clinical Technology Senior Leader is responsible for the creation and completion of all work aligned to the newly formed UHG Clinical Systems Governance Committee. This role will support the building and maintaining of a member/patient-centric, cloud-based clinical platform that relies on a common data model to support interoperability with providers and payers. Specifically, t his leadership role will be the key organizer of stakeholders across the Enterprise for the creation of clinical applications built on the Optum Clinical Management (OCM) platform and oversee the information and data management standards, application build, practices and processes to align with enterprise goals. This requires coordination and completion of concurrent moderate to complex strategies and projects across various market groups and functional areas. This role will provide subject matter expertise in areas of clinical application design and implementation, project definition, risk identification, project methodology, resource allocation and facilitation.

This role will formulate and define scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of Executive needs. This position will be accountable to the UHG Clinical Systems Governance Committee and report to the chair of the committee. This will ensure that the development happens within a consistent framework and avoids repeat or one-off work and technology applications.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops and fosters relationships across the Enterprise with Executive Clinical leaders, Executive IT Leaders and other key business partners
  • Develops strategic plans and roadmaps for a member/patient-centric, cloud-based clinical platform across the Enterprise
  • Ensures coordination, collaboration and completion of projects across many technology workstreams
  • Recognizes problems and able to make recommendations on the best course of action to remediate
  • Resourceful at coming up with solutions using existing or available resources based on knowledge of the organization and level of execution effort
  • Translates initiatives into actions through a thoughtful, organized and well-planned approach
  • Establishes measurement criteria and systems to track daily processes, implementation of new initiatives and value creation
  • Ensures alignment and understanding of program/project scope and objectives with the organization’s strategic objectives and the Voice of the Customer, in consultation with applicable stakeholders
  • Establishes/implements/complies with change management processes to drive effective project execution
  • Identify project duration, effort, sequence and dependencies of tasks required to meet applicable project objectives
  • Monitors and reports progress throughout the project life cycle, using appropriate project planning and scheduling tools
  • Ensures each level of the organization has the information needed and the context needed to produce favorable results.
  • Monitors project results going forward and ensures that the project is delivering the expected benefits to the business, obtaining feedback from stakeholders as appropriate
  • Articulates complex ideas, issues and designs to varied audiences; communicates project objectives, scope and direction to the project team

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the area of Clinical/Information Technology and/or equivalent related experience
  • 15+ years of IT leadership experience, leading large scale strategic efforts
  • 12+ years of experience in the portfolio/project / program management field
  • Exceptional executive presence, political awareness and organizational navigation
  • Possess deep experience building and maintaining of a member/patient-centric, cloud-based clinical platform that relies on a common data model to support interoperability with providers and payers
  • Demonstrated ability for systems thinking and complex problem solving
  • Project management experience in technology and healthcare industry environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels of the organization including managing through cross-business area or business unit prioritization discussions
  • Outstanding organizational, communication, interpersonal, relationship building skills
  • Collaboration; able to work well in a cross-functional, matrix management environment
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a history of hands-on, detail orientation
  • Highly developed abilities with executive presentations, listening, negotiation and influencing others
  • Self-motivated, self-directed, team oriented, responsible, with a positive attitude and a proactive style
  • Ability to problem solve including prioritizing multiple tasks, priorities, projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to shift priorities quickly

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $348,100 to $433,600. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $348,100 to $433,600. The range and pay mix of base and bonus is variable based upon experience and metric achievement. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
