- Job Summary:
- Achieves a high standard of coding all professional services to best meet GSPN strategic goals. Ensures the highest third party reimbursement for the benefit of the patient.
- Job Specifications:
- Education: High school degree or equivalent; Associates degree preferred. Medical Coding Certificate required; RHIT or CPC by AAPC or AHIMA
- Experience: Two years of physician coding. Understanding of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology. Strong computer skills in data entry, coding, and knowledge of Electronic Medical Record software; Microsoft Office Suite, and 3M encoder.
Job Duties:
Reviews physician documentation to assign accurate CPT-4, ICD-10 and HCPCS codes to all office, outpatient, and inpatient visits. Assigns/reviews appropriate evaluation and management levels for all professional services. Maintains working knowledge of CPT-4 and ICD-10 coding guidelines, governmental regulations and third party requirements pertaining to billing and documentation. Pays close attention to detail of procedure/op notes to accurately assign codes for diagnosis and procedures for all professional services. Provides accurate answers to physicians coding & billing questions on a timely basis Sustains a trusting relationship with providers and their staff. Maintains all charge review and claim edit workques in EPIC as assigned. Maintains coding accuracy and productivity standards. Ensures maximum efficiency & reimbursement for properly documented services Works all coding related denials assigned in the Insurance Coding Review follow up workque in a timely way.
