Job Title: Student Collection Specialist
Summary: The primary role of the Student Collection Specialist duties are primary in student payment collection from active students. This will include contacting students regarding their outstanding balances, receiving student payments, maintaining records related to collections efforts, updating CVUE related to students' accounts, and monitoring past due cash. This role will also provide secondary support for inactive collections, as well as other projects to be determined when able to support the overall Student accounts function.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provide exceptional customer service to our prospective and in-house students.
- Responsible for all in-school collections and will work with inactive collections as assigned.
- Assist students with student financial aid questions or escalate to proper channels for resolutions.
- Collaborate with the campus staff as needed to offer payment options to help a student get current if behind with a primary objective of all students making partial payments at a minimum.
- Comply with departmental procedures and policies, as well as regulations or rules imposed by federal entities, state agencies, and/or accrediting bodies.
Qualifications:
- Education/Experience: High school diploma, or general education degree (GED). Minimum two (2) years of financial aid or related experience preferred.
- Language Ability: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Mathematical Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Computer Skills: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Outlook, and Word) and data entry.
