Communicate achievements, discoveries, stories and key messages for the Department of Pathology & Microbiology, which also includes Regional Pathology Services (RPS) and Nebraska Public Health Laboratory (NPHL), to internal and external audiences through various media such as website, social media, print material, visual media, and press releases. Work with faculty and staff throughout department to ensure that creative work meets strategic communications and brand objectives and fulfills project expectations and standards of excellence. Provide event coordination and administrative support to the department.

Required Education:
Associate's degree or equivalent

Journalism, English, Public Relations, Communications, Science, or related field.

  • Excellent understanding of best practices and strategies in communications including content, social media, design, and visuals, as well as analytics and reporting.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills. Proficiency with word processing and graphic design.
  • Engaging interpersonal acumen, including interviewing skills and working in groups.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent news judgment and ability to produce accurate information. Knowledge of current events both scientific and cultural.
  • Ability to work well with supervision and follow through on assigned tasks.
  • Sense of gravitas and humor.
  • Ability to work within a diverse culture and community, supporting both the university and department commitments to excellence and inclusion.
