Job Goal:

To develop and test layouts, interfaces, functionality, and navigation menus to ensure compatibility and usability across browsers or devices. Responsible for the look and functionality of the UMHS website as well as our social media brand.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Design and maintain UMHS website, using authoring or scripting languages, content creation tools, management tools, and digital media.
  • Confer with management to prioritize needs, resolve conflicts, develop content criteria, or choose solutions.
  • Develop new visual graphics and document style guidelines for website content based on stakeholder feedback to improve design quality.
  • Evaluate web design following web and accessibility standards, and analyze web use metrics and optimize website for marketability and search engine ranking.
  • Collaborate with web development professionals, such as front-end or back-end developers, to complete the full scope of web development projects and to address hardware or software issues affecting our website.
  • Create searchable indices for web page content.
  • Ensure that the documents on the network are up to date on the website when notified.
  • Manage social media accounts for the agency on multiple platforms.
  • Grow and maintain social media engagement by posting new content and making sure that marketing messages are consistent across all channels including building a community around the UMHS brand.
  • Handle technical support requests submitted through the online Support Ticket System.
  • Manage maintenance and diagnostics of agency landline and mobile phones including assigning extensions, distribution, ordering and replacing phones, and maintaining inventory.
  • Update and create screen content on all agency welcome screens.
  • Create various agency marketing materials including event banners, business cards, logos, flyers, and brochures.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience and Skills Requirements:

  • Minimum one year of web development and graphic design experience
  • Experience using PHP highly preferred
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Must be flexible, well-organized, and able to manage different projects concurrently and often under pressure; able to set priorities and manage time effectively
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience with computers and providing customer service in a technological environment
  • Knowledge of hardware, software including Microsoft Office and Windows Operating System
  • Ability to work with different groups of individuals

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands and work environment described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:

    • Sit for long periods of time with daily use of computer screen;
    • Do tasks involving repetitive arm and hand movements, such as word processing/keyboarding.
    • Occasionally required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms;
    • Make precise arm-hand positioning movements and maintain static arm-hand positions
    • Lift and move heavy and/or bulky computer equipment or other objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to drive a private or Agency vehicle; must possess a valid driver's license and personal automobile or provide a plan that will allow fulfillment of position requirements
    • Perform detailed and repetitive work such as data entry, completion of forms, and verification of computer reports

Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

Agency-Wide Requirements:

    • Current enrollment in the Child Care Divisions Central Background Registry
    • Current physical examination, drug screen, and TB screen documentation prior to hire
    • Ability to drive a private or Agency vehicle; must possess a valid driver's license and personal automobile or provide a plan that will allow fulfillment of position requirements. A DMV Record check will be conducted prior to hire.
    • Desire to work with low-income children and their families
    • Communicate effectively with staff, families, children, and the public using the telephone and in face-to-face, one-to-one, and in group settings
    • Fluent in English both verbally and written
