Description:Lutheran Life Communities’ story began in 1892 with 26 cents. In the late 1880s, Pastor August Reinke preached a sermon to parishioners at Chicago’s Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He focused on the obligation to care for the community’s aging population. Two days later, an envelope appeared on his desk. It read “for the Altenheim building fund.” In the envelope, Rev. Reinke found 26 cents. Gifts continued and, in 1892 an organization was formed.

The Caregiver will provide companionship and assist with the daily personal needs of Lutheran Life communities, or local community residents so as to provide a safe, quality environment, and lifestyle.
Requirements:Primary Responsibilities
- Perform all CNA responsibilities and tasks appropriately, and in a timely manner.
- Provide companionship and assist with the daily personal needs of clients as required and according to the plan of care.
- Remind the client to take prescribed medications on correct day and time according to MySolutions regulations and procedures.
- Offer courteous reminder, observe, and document. All medications whether prescribed or over the counter are preset and pre scheduled by family or designated individuals (medication manager).
- Follow established plan of care for each individual client so as to maintain the client’s highest level of independent living.
- Help clients in a variety of tasks related to personal hygiene, such as, assisting with bathing, dressing, shaving, shampooing hair, and oral hygiene as appropriate.
- Assist in meal planning, preparation, and serving when appropriate.
- Follow all policies and procedures of MySolutions and regulations of facility where applicable.
- Update both verbally and/or in written form, report to supervisor in a timely manner.
- Perform duties and carries out responsibilities in a professional, caring, courteous manner in accordance with the policies and procedures of MySolutions and work cooperatively with the client, the family and staff.
- Maintain a safe and sanitary environment in each client’s apartment/home by cleaning surfaces, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, removing/washing/ putting away dishes, washing and changing linens and personal laundry, emptying garbage as plan of care determines.
- Submit time slips/call in hours in a punctual manner to ensure correct billing of services and timely payroll payment.
- Use electronic call-in system as instructed.
- Provide assistance with ambulation and repositioning when necessary.
- Transport, escort and accompany clients to various personal appointments as needed.

- Support the program elements by daily implementation and participation of functions (i.e., huddles) and demonstration of the Foundational Documents.
- Display behavior that produces good customer service to all people with whom interactions occur.
- Consistently and actively implement GIA Culture Program elements throughout LLC.
Candidate Requirements
- Currently listed on the Illinois Department of Public Health C.N.A Registry.
- Must be able to read, comprehend and write legibly in English.
- Must be able to comprehend and perform oral and written instructions and procedures.
- Must be able to verbally communicate information to customers and other employees.
- A current CPR certification, preferred.
- Experience in working with elderly, preferred.
- Work schedule may include working weekends, holidays, and all shifts. This is an as needed on call position.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- The employee is subject to walking and standing for prolonged periods; and frequently stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls, pushes, pulls, grasps and feels.
- The employee frequently is required to use manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination when working with residents and handling equipment.
- The employee is subject to assist and support up to 50 pounds with varying amounts of assistance on a reoccurring basis.
- The employee is required to have corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
- Occupational exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious substances, including communicable diseases when performing resident care (Category III).
- Occasional exposure to cleaning agents and disinfectants.
- Environment is home-like.
