Founded in 1889, Family Service Agency of San Francisco is the oldest nonsectarian, nonprofit charitable social-services provider in the City and County of San Francisco. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Felton’s Community Liaison program, provides access to the variety of services administered by the City of San Francisco’s DAS. Since these services are targeted towards individuals 60 years of age or older or individuals between 18 and 59 years of age that are living with a disability, it is expected that the Community Liaisons program should reflect this target population within its own corps. By reflecting the community which it seeks to serve, the Community Liaisons program is a peer-to-peer program which will provide a more familiar and empathetic access to DAS services.
JOB DUTIES:
- Provide technical assistant by teaching basic computer skills on a smart device (such as a smart phone, tablet and laptop) in-person and on Zoom.
- Assist the Tech Squad staff with administrative tasks and outreach activities including off-site events
- Update Tech Squad flyers and distribute flyers off-site to promote Tech Squad and other services for older adults and people with disabilities.
- Ability to assist in developing curriculum for tech workshops.
- Provide information on Department of Disability and Aging (DAS) resources.
- Conduct wellness check-in calls to older adults and adults with disabilities
- Assist with DAS outreach activities including off-site events
- Ensure excellent customer service by engaging all customers with courtesy, respect, and consideration
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
The Community Liaison will:
- teach basic technical/computer skills on a smart device such as downloading and using the Zoom app, as well as navigate the internet to access resources helpful for daily living.
- provide support for older adults and adults with disabilities under the Aging Service umbrella of Felton’s Senior Division
proficient in Cantonese, Spanish or Russian preferred. - Primary assets of Community Liaison’s include: helpful, meaningful commitment, enjoy working with individuals challenged by disabilities and/or older adults, have great customer service, etc.
