- Empowers each Individual to express their choices, while educating them about social responsibilities and assisting them to be involved with community events, civic groups, etc.
- Maintains communication with families while promoting adaptive social interactions and relationships.
- Follows all aspects of the Person Centered Plan (PCP), Behavior Plan, (when indicated), goals, and services and attends PCP meetings as requested by the RC.
- Schedules, transports and assists consumers with medical related appointments while following procedures for all documentation and communication of related information to vested parties.
- Dispenses medication administration and performs ordered treatment according to the policies and regulations of the DDA as delegated by the Registered Nurse.
- Administers basic first aid and follows proper procedures by contacting the Registered Nurse.
- Files Incident Reports for each Individual as needed and ensures the appropriate documented follow-up occurs.
- Assists Individuals to utilize income in a conscientious manner.
- Under the direction of the RC, assists individuals with funds and personal property including ensuring all are handled properly and accounted for according to policy including residential budget/purchases/petty cash.
- Assists with training coworkers and substitute staff under the direction of the RC.
- Responsible for the overall residence operations when training and/or working with substitute staff.
- Maintains open communication with all staff including the use of the message log and/or emails.
- Attends all staff meetings and meets regularly with Residential Counselor.
- Provides assistance with personal hygiene as per individual needs and follows all dietary menus (and instructions for food/drink preparation) for all Individuals on a daily basis.
- Provides all tasks necessary to ensure cleanliness and maintenance of the residence including assisting Individuals with designated household chores.
- Performs various tasks related to maintaining adequate food and residential supplies.
- Plays active role in monthly fire drills, fire equipment checks and emergency preparedness procedures.
- Regularly completes vehicle maintenance check, fuels vehicles, and safely operates all agency vehicles.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment and reports all safety, health and maintenance issues to the proper staff/department.
- Serves as a positive role model to staff and consumers. Maintains positive attitude to create a positive work environment.
- Attends mandatory trainings as defined in Comar 10.22.01.11.
- Maintains daily recordation of all hours to be paid pending approval of the RC.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
HS diploma or G.E.D.
Preference given to those with experience in the field of developmental disabilities
Ability to read and interpret regulations.- Ability to learn and effectively use software applications.
- Proficient time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to receive and maintain certification as a Certified Medication Technician (CMT).
- Knowledge of and experience in using Microsoft software and an ability to learn and effectively use other software applications within agency-designated timeframe.
- Must possess typing skills in order to be productive.
- Valid drivers license with a minimum of 3 years of driving experience and an agency approved driving record.
- Must be at least 19 years of age.
