Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking DOT Compliance Coordinator in St. Joseph, MO to join our team. This position reports to the Director of Compliance and Training and assist with the companywide regulatory compliance.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.
  • Serve as compliance lead for Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulated driver qualification file maintenance.
  • Evaluate, monitor, analyze and identify all driver compliance and non-compliance issues and resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate FMCSA electronic logging device (ELD) compliance and system maintenance as well as perform new hire ELD training.
  • Manage internal and external compliance reporting.
  • Coordinate Entry Level Driver training classes to help drivers obtain Class A CDL’s.
  • Maintain roadside inspections and citations including overweight, traffic violations, etc.
  • Monitor all driver motor vehicle reports and report violations and status changes utilizing a monitoring system.
  • Facilitate sub-contracted driver compliance and maintain an approved driver database.
  • Utilize fleet management system to conduct regular audits and serve as the system administrator for multiple locations.
  • Assist with other Department of Transportation (DOT) agency requirements (FRA, FTA, FAA).
  • Assist with internal audits.
  • Ensure security of confidential information.
  • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma
  • 2-plus years in transportation compliance preferred.
  • Industry experience with FMCSA compliance preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience with Fleet Management or Driver Qualification Compliance software preferred but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are a must.
  • Time-management skills are essential; must possess a natural sense of urgency and work well with pressure and deadlines.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to excel in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible and adaptive to change.
  • Possess a high level of ingenuity.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact with all levels of employees and prospects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products and advanced computer literacy skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
