This is a position begins with start to finish case management through the goal of voluntary compliance with city codes. You will conduct field inspections, investigate complaints of Salem Revised Code violations; research and interpret information using a variety of databases; initiate and following-up through formal enforcement actions, and document your findings for use in possible litigation. We are currently looking for someone with the desire and drive to move into the Multifamily Inspection Program and ready to become responsible for the safety and livability of residents in apartments, hotels, and many other rental unit types, encompassing over 980 properties. This assignment requires the ability to be on your feet much of each day, climb stairs, and comfortably communicate with individuals within their personal space. If you prefer operating each day from your computer connected mobile office over sitting at a desk, spending much of your day speaking to people, and a good deal of walking, you should take a look at what we have to offer. This position is a critical to our Compliance team, providing great service to a community of over 175,000 residents. Bilingual skills in Spanish are not required, but would be appreciated. What are the minimum qualifications?Must pass the pre-employment drug test (including marijuana).Must pass the pre-employment background check necessary to obtain CJIS clearance and must be maintained throughout employment.Must have an Oregon Drivers license and meet the City of Salem's driving standards.Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and one (1) year experience working with the public in area that relates to enforcement or a closely related field, or regulatory agency such as zoning, building, land use, housing inspections, nuisance abatement, or regulation compliance.Ability to obtain a Vehicle Appraiser Certificate from the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles.Where can I find out more about the position?
