Job Summary: Under the supervision and direction of a licensed pharmacist, the person in this position is responsible for making compounded sterile preparations (CSPs) following standard operating procedures (SOPs) set forth by current good manufacturing practices (cGMP). They are also responsible for maintaining the compounding suite, ordering stock medication and supplies and appropriately documenting throughout the process.

Primary Job Responsibilities
1 Assists the pharmacist(s)/quality team in the process of compounding, cleaning and monitoring in the compounding suite.
2 Demonstrates the ability to identify and understand the variable compounding modalities. Understands the need to consult with the pharmacist or quality team if questions / concerns arise.
3 Accurately prepares CSPs in an efficient manner according to SOPs. Preparation includes lifting and transfer of heavy bags of fluids or totes. Repetitive motions while compounding are to be expected. Working with needles and sharps is required. Ability to work with hazardous materials and chemotherapy is required.
4 Accurately labels, packages and stores products prior to shipment to patients.
5 Maintains pharmacy and clean room in a clean, organized and well stocked manner according to SOPs.
6 Assists with daily, weekly and monthly Quality Assurance activities including but not limited to temperature monitoring of product environment and QA testing of compounded batches.
7 Documents daily compounding statistics and collates daily data for month end report(s) as required.
8 Generates all daily JIBs, labels and CII logs as required.
9 Assists with inventory management functions involving purchasing and receiving drug shipments as well as computer system inventory maintenance.

Required Qualifications / Skills
Educational / Professional Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience in IV admixtures/aseptic technique using an IV laminar flow preferred.
Regulatory Requirements:
Certification/Licensure as Pharmacy Technician preferred.
Skills:
Ability to explicitly follow instructions as set forth by SOPs.
Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instruction provided in written, oral and diagram formats required.
Ability to recognize variations and follow appropriate protocol for reporting.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and customers required.
Ability to conduct repetitive tasks and lift moderately heavy items
Excellent organizational skills required.
Knowledge / practical experience with basic computer systems such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) required.
Dependability in attendance and job performance required.
