CONSTITUENT LIAISON, IMMIGRATION & FOREIGN AFFAIRS
Job description
Office of U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand seeks a personable, dependable and professional Constituent Liaison to address and resolve inquiries from New Yorkers regarding immigration and foreign affairs casework.
Responsibilities:
- Process a high volume of immigration and foreign affairs-related casework from constituents
- Liaise with a broad range of stakeholders such as federal agencies (Department of Homeland Security and Department of State) community-based and advocacy organizations to help resolve constituent cases
- Maintain up-to-date case file records in online case management system, track and analyze casework trends, and update immigration department training manual as needed
- Lead onboarding and contribute to training, management and professional development of interns
- Other duties as assigned
Key Deliverables/Outcomes:
- Provide informed, compassionate and timely constituent services to New Yorkers
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of the scope and role of the Senator’s office in constituent affairs
- Develop expertise on specific immigration and foreign affairs issues
Qualifications: Minimum one year direct service experience, with preference given to work in the field of immigration and/or foreign affairs. Preferred candidate has knowledge of immigration and foreign affairs related issues and legislation. Applicants must have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, outstanding writing and communication skills, desire to work in a team-based, collaborative environment, and ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
