Job Description:

  • Civil/site engineering and design and construction QA/QC for government buildings, roadways, parking lots, laboratory facilities, etc.
  • Develop facilities design criteria statements, defining and confirming requirements.
  • Prepare and review construction drawings, specifications, and submittal schedules.
  • Provide engineering support during construction phase of projects.
  • Support project cost estimators in the development of construction estimates.
  • Assist client project managers as needed during progress of construction, re-modeling, and repair projects.
  • Coordinate work requirements under the guidance of the Discipline Design Team Lead and follow through until the total design requirements are clearly defined and implemented.
  • Effectively interact with government clients and support various engineering, construction, and maintenance activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program
  • Ten+ years of experience in civil engineering design, including site development, topographical mapping, storm water drainage calculations, drainage piping/structure details, pavement and concrete design, and/or other related design activities
  • Knowledge of IBC requirements related to civil engineering.
  • Ability to manage design projects throughout the design development and construction phases, perform mark-ups for drafters during design, and review submittals during construction.
  • Ability and willingness to assist designers, drafters, and other staff members where needed.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred
  • Experience with USACE projects or projects for other Federal agencies(GSA, NAVFAC, etc.) is preferred
  • Experience and skill in application of CAD software, specifically Bentley Microstation and associated civil software packages are highly desirable.
  • Continuing education courses in concrete and flexible pavement design, GPS, erosion control, and Subsurface Utility Engineering are desirable.
  • Experience and skill in generating digital terrain models and associated volume calculations, cross sections and cut and fill calculations using Bentley Open Site Designer are desirable.
  • Experience and/or completed coursework in land surveying is a plus
