Populus Financial Group is seeking a Manager of Content Marketing to support our growing portfolio of brands. The primary responsibility of the Marketing Content Manager is the planning, development, and implementation of marketing content strategies. The ideal candidate is an efficient and effective communicator, both written and oral, and skilled at collaborating across the marketing organization to ensure successful content creation and deployment.

The Marketing Content Manager, part of the SEO team, reports to the Director of Organic Marketing. Active engagement across the greater marketing organization, including product marketing, eCommerce, CRM and Social, will ensure content deployed is consistent and meets organic search objectives.

Major Responsibilities

• Create, manage, and maintain marketing editorial calendars, supporting SEO content strategy and roadmaps.
• Lead the process for identifying, initiating, and producing content across all marketing channels leveraging SEO best practices and industry/competitive analyses.
• Partner with the eCommerce team to prioritize and implement SEO-related site architecture and content optimizations, page updates, linking and maintenance to improve SEO positions for target keywords. Follow process through its entirety, ensuring published content supports SEO goals and adheres to best practices.
• Partner with email/CRM and social teams to ensure content needs are met and consistent with marketing editorial calendar.
• Build writer/designer briefs and oversee content through editing, SEO optimization, approval, and uploading/deployment. Includes responsibility for reviewing copy, headlines, captions, photos/videos, ALT text, and image titles.
• Write and edit with speed and accuracy, displaying a strong knowledge of English grammar and the ability to create clear, engaging, and informative text.
• Lead the development and production of emerging interactive content components, such as video, surveys, etc.
• Conduct ongoing keyword research, including identification and communication of keyword opportunities, expansion, and content recommendations.
• Monitor and report KPIs for all content, with purpose and goals for all content developed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, English, or related field required.
• 3-5 years of related work experience implementing and supporting SEO strategy.
• Working knowledge of SEO trends, best practices, concepts, programs, search engine algorithms and ranking factors. Expert SEO knowledge and interest, especially on how quality content impacts on-page SEO preferred.
• Experience improving the readability of existing blogs and on-page web content is required.
• Ability to research trending topics and write clear, engaging, informative text with speed and accuracy.
• Content management system experience required, such as WordPress.
• Strong understanding and ability to work within Google Analytics.
• Strong understanding and ability to work within Searchmetrics or equivalent enterprise-level SEO platform.
• Work exposure and interaction across a variety of marketing expertise, including web, social, email, search, display, copywriting, graphic design, and video. Up to date knowledge and interest in creating emerging and interactive content forms preferred.
• A/B and multivariate testing experience, such as VWO or equivalent, preferred.
• Working knowledge of HTML, CCC, and JavaScript development and search-friendly implementation.
• Familiarity with personal finance topics and content. Direct experience in writing and implementing content strategies related to personal finance or within the fintech industry preferred.
• Ability to execute multiple projects with various stakeholders to ensure high-quality, accurate and on time completion

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CT. This position might require after hours and weekend work.
