JOB SUMMARY
The cook is responsible for the preparation of the meals for the Veteran's Facility and ensuring that all regulations are met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for meal planning and inventory control.
2. Responsible for the preparation of daily meals.
3. Responsible for ensuring that the Director is informed of operational issues.
4. Responsible for ensuring that all polices, procedures and practices of Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana and all governmental regulatory agencies are met.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Experience in a school setting is preferred. Perform basic, standardized cooking for large groups.
This position requires the incumbent possess a valid Louisiana Drivers License, have a High School Diploma or equivalent, and a minimum of 1 year related experience. Ability to read, write, and perform standard mathematical calculations. Ability to lift up to sixty (60) pounds consistently throughout the day. Must be familiar with kitchen safety, portion control, inventory management and food prep sanitation.
This position requires travel to other locations, as appropriate in the performance of duties and responsibilities.
Must have:

• Current driver s license issued by state of residence
• Current Vehicle Inspection decal
• Current Louisiana or Mississippi vehicle insurance
• Current vehicle registration in state of residence
• Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report
• Must be able to pass a criminal history investigation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds, and stand for long periods of time. Must wear slip resistant shoes. Frequent walking, grasping, carrying, bending, crouching, and reaching in order to complete food preparation and cleaning requirements. Dexterity is used while performing work with personal computer keyboard, calculator and other office equipment. Noise levels in the food production area can be expected to be moderate.
