Job description
The American Youth Foundation - Camp Miniwanca is seeking cooks for the 2023 season. This position supports the Food program by preparing food according to menu and recipes, assist with food setup and service, and works in team to feed 80-300 children and staff nutritious family style meals while meeting all dietary and allergy restrictions. Applicants must be willing to learn large scale institutional cooking mostly from scratch and work with youth to educate them on healthy eating and balanced nutrition.
At Camp Miniwanca it is our goal to provide healthful delicious meals to our campers, staff and guests. We strive to use produce from local farms and cook as much from scratch as possible. Weekends, evenings, and holidays are required.
Essential Functions: (required)
- Prepares food according to menu
- Ensures food is prepared in a timely manner for presentation at meal times
- Uses a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment such as blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers, and tenderizers
- Washes food preparation utensils and pans
Secondary Functions:
- Washes dishes, equipment/parts, pots and pans
- Serve Meals
- Perform effectively in a team environment
- Maintains overall cleanliness of work areas during and after shift
Qualifications: (required)
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Ability to interact cooperatively with staff and participants
- Must be able to lift and or move 50 lbs.
- Use of food preparation utensils
Work Environment
- Work in hot kitchen environment
- May work at various locations around site
- Indoor and outdoor exposure is required
- Work in all temperatures and environments

- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
- Cooking: 1 year (Preferred)
- Restaurant Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
