Position Details: $250.00 Sign on Bonus

Hours: Full Time 5:00am - 1:30pm

Per diem

Basic Function: The Cook is responsible for making nutritional meals for the residents. They also take part in, putting away stock and supervise the kitchen when the Manager / Team leader is not present. Does daily checks to ensure all temps are being taken accordingly and that all equipment is in good working condition.

Reports To: Executive Director, Director of Clinical Nutrition

Education, Qualifications, and Credentials:

The minimum requirement needed to become a Cook is a high school diploma, but applicants with additional training and some experience in related fields are preferred by most healthcare establishments.

Essential Job Functions:

The responsibilities of Cook cover a wide variety of tasks which includes preparing and prepping meals under strict adherence to food safety standards, handling supplies and ingredients, understanding dietary requirements and special needs of patients, assisting and working well with other professionals in the dietary department, as well as performing food service duties such as delivering and serving food and beverages, cleaning after meals, and disposing refuse. The Cook will be responsible to report issues with Meals to the Dietary Manager. Cooks work on their feet most of the time, cooking meals, collecting utensils, and helping in the kitchen. They often carry meal trays and push food carts around with them. They may also have to move boxes of materials or food shipments when dealing with supplies. The varying conditions required by equipment’s and procedures in the kitchen area exposes them to extreme temperatures. Cooks must be able to completely understand and carry out verbal and written directions effectively; be able to work well with others and with minimal supervision; must possess good customer service skills and a positive attitude; should be agile and can accomplish task within schedules; and must be in good physical condition to perform task that requires strength and stamina.
