Job description
We are looking for a skilled Cook to prepare delicious meals for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner. You will be serving the most vulnerable people of Kitsap County. An excellent cook must be able to follow instructions in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals. They must be deft in moving around the kitchen and apt in multi-tasking. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is important. The goal is to help serve our communities so we can expand and continue to spread the gospel.
Compensation: You can make up to 17.99 an hour!
Summary of Job Duties:
- Set the pace for accomplishing food preparation and production duties
- Prepare and serve (up to) 100 meals two times per day, working independently
- Perform all clean-up duties, including running a standard three-bin dish pit and commercial automated dishwasher. Daily cleaning of all kitchen countertops, kitchen area floors, and kitchen equipment.
- Return all clean trays, utensils, cups, dishes, pots, hotel pans, knives, serving utensils, etc. to designated area(s)
- Deep cleaning of all kitchen appliances including sinks, drains, and floor mats on a scheduled maintenance plan
- Record freezer and refrigerator temperatures daily
- Work with Operations Manager to organize and execute a working meal plan
- Work with Operations Manager to maintain supplies for food, preparation, cleaning, and serving
- Use food and supply donations whenever possible to ease the expense of daily food costs.
- Maintain a daily ‘meal count’
- Assist in keeping recipes current and correct
- Follow a designated dress code. TSA shirts will be provided. Always wear closed-toe and skid-proof footwear
- Work closely and oversee volunteers and court-ordered community service applicants who will from time to time assist in day-to-day duties
- Carry out all other duties as assigned
Qualifications Required:
- Highschool diploma or GED
- Have a current Food Handlers Card
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
- Working knowledge of all kitchen appliances including, steam kettle, tilt skillet, and food steamer
- Knowledge and adaptation of FIFO (First In First Out) practices
- Knowledge of HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) practices
- Knowledge of food safety and kitchen sanitation practices, including guidelines on operating and cleaning all food service equipment
- Have a minimum of 1-year experience in food production
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to follow recipes and ability to cook under pressure without a recipe card
- Ability to adapt to changes in a working environment
- Must be a team player committed to the common purpose of assisting those in need
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, walk, bend, squat, kneel and/or twist on an intermittent or continual basis
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as bins, drawers, heavy hotel pans, and reaching overhead
- Ability to carry and move food cartons
- Ability to lift to 40 lbs.
