What you get to do:
As the Costuming & Crafts Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the operations of the costume shop workroom and related costume areas in the park, costuming team, while also collaborating with line manager and the other areas of the Entertainment department to achieve project goals and objectives. You will also:
- Handle and oversee all day-to-day costume shop and relevant costume areas activities including personnel, scheduling, dressing, fittings, repairs, crafts, equipment, research, and supplies
- Supervise and track all costume deliveries, pickups, laundry, and dry-cleaning procedures
- Monitor the quality assurance of costume and crafts product and supporting areas
- Maintain inventory of costuming and crafts supplies, equipment and systems with line manager.
- Document, track, and report costuming and crafts archives, files, repairs, laundry, and resources
- Schedule, develop, and provide performance evaluations of the team, including the completion of appropriate paperwork and administering of developmental documentation
- Develop, implement, and lead the department training programs
- Monitor expenses and labor budgets with line manager that align with Park and Departmental objectives
What it takes to succeed:
- Associates or BA in Theatre, Theatre Arts, Costume Arts, or equivalent professional experience preferred
- Two (2) years professional supervisory experience in a costume shop environment or professional costume shop work experience preferred
- Experience with Costume and Crafts Fabrication, Costume Design Interpretation, Costume and Crafts Materials, Sewing and Patterning
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements for textile equipment, including crafts and dying
- Ability to work logically and systematically with excellent multi-tasking and time management
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with high aptitude for computer software systems
- View problems as a challenge and take initiative for finding solutions
- A passion for customer service
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Active listener with the ability to anticipate guests’ needs
- Flexibility to perform varied duties
What else is important:
- Ability to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 50 lbs.
- Position engages in extensive walking and standing throughout entire work shift and climb/ascend heights, if needed
- Perform the following physical activities: kneeling, squatting, bend floor-to waist/waist-to-overhead, reach overhead, simple grasp and fine hand manipulation tasks (use of tools/keyboard/writing)
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors, in varying weather, to include extreme heat. Position may be exposed to fumes, dust, odors and cold/heat temperature extremes
- Perform cleaning duties; including use of cleaning chemicals
- Work a flexible schedule/hour based on business need, to include opening, mid-, and closing shifts; nights, weekends, and holidays
- Flexible in work locations as placement will depend on business needs and career development opportunities
