At present, we are looking to hire qualified candidates on a hourly/contract basis with a possibility for full time employment in the future.

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Counselor provides high-quality, ethical, and compassionate counseling services clients.

PRIMARY RESONSIBILITIES:

Counseling:

· Provides individual counseling and assessment services to clients referred to the department including those referred by external partner agencies like Bexar County Courts, TX-DFPS

· Answer telephone calls and respond to voicemail and email from referral sources in a timely and professional manner

· Maintain communication with the Program Supervisor regarding internal and external issues, concerns or complaints relating to program

· Work Collaboratively with FVPS staff, volunteers, and interns to ensure that Program and other FVPS tasks are completed

· Work cooperatively and respectfully with all clients and report complex or potentially dangerous situations to the Program Supervisor and other support staff

· Adhere to Policies and Procedures

· Maintain appropriate and professional verbal and written communication with all parties who are seeking services and information

· Comfortable speaking in court

Record Keeping:

· Maintains client records in orderly and timely manner in agency database

· Handles correspondence related to client’s needs

· Assists with data collection

· Complete all reports, treatment plans, closing summaries, etc., as required

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITES:

· Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

· Master degree in counseling or closely related field

· Certification as an LPC or Equivalent (preferred)

· Two years of experience in counseling or closely related field (preferred)

· Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

· Sensitivity to various cultural, ethnic, and social background, values, attitudes, beliefs, and languages

· Computer skills (moderate to advanced)

· Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
• Weekend availability

• Counseling: 2 years (Preferred)
