Job Summary:
HilltopSecurities is seeking a Credit Research Analyst to work in the HilltopSecurities Municipal Research and Analytics Group. The role requires performing fundamental and market research on municipal bond issuers as well as credit monitoring functions. Work product will include statistical analysis, managing data, evaluating investor behavior and mutual fund returns and periodic reporting. The position requires someone with very strong analytical, surveillance, and communication (verbal & written) skills. The position can be based in Dallas, TX.

  • Drive HilltopSecurities Municipal Research and Analytics publishing process, topical analysis.
  • Analyze, monitor and provide internal and external guidance related to general U.S. public finance market trends, security pledges, and public policy development.
  • Assist senior members of the group with providing prompt responses to internal and external requests.
  • Interact with sector participants such as investors, management investment advisors, traders, and rating agencies.
  • Aggregate and evaluate data related to credit and credit risk to support organizational decision-making
  • Daily and overnight travel is sometimes necessary but should not be more than 20% of total work hours.
  • Other functions as needed.

Job Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Public/Government Administration, Political Science, Economics, Finance or Business related field is preferred. A CFA is a plus.
  • 1-2 years of public finance experience, does not have to be credit-specific experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
  • Strong experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Bloomberg, EMMA and other commonly used industry databases
  • FINRA registration including Series 7 and/or 52 or FINRA recognized equivalent(s) within 12 months of employment.
  • Obtaining and/or maintaining appropriate Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) license(s) is required for ongoing employment in this position.
