Main purpose of the role:
The Role of the Data Centre Design Engineer & Project Manager should ensure the projects are completed on time & within budget. The project objectives are met & everyone is doing their job properly.
This role will be to PM all new office builds & office relocations, system integrations, Network upgrades, Server Upgrades, Circuit Installs.

Key responsibilities:
  • Develops, executes, coordinates and monitors overall project plans, tasks, and milestones.
  • Ability to work with all IT disciplines (Network, Telecom, Desktop/Systems) and business units to ensure successful implementation.
  • Producing DWG / CAD drawings for ALL new office builds
  • Designing Cabinet Elevations for SER rooms for all office builds
  • Attending all project calls / meetings
  • Provide the relevant IT requirements by liaising with various teams
  • Provide adequate power for Comms Cabinets
  • Scoping out UPS’s for new office builds
  • Ensuring front & back office user(s) Infrastructure requirements
  • Planning and implementation of Office moves / relocations
  • Installation of cabling from the Telco cabinets to the relevant hardware cabinets
  • High level due diligence on potential new offices
  • Preparation of detailed minutes
  • Attendance of management meetings , providing technical support and documentation
  • Organisation for the delivery of materials to site / documentation
  • Arranging security clearance / access for site visits, for visitors and third party vendors
  • Scoping out AV requirements to provide the relevant infrastructure
  • Liaising with Data Centre / Cabling infrastructure third party Vendors
  • Administration of the iTRACS Data Base for Inventory purposes
  • Assist with MAC’s (Moves, Adds & Changes) where necessary.
Skills / experience required:
  • Terminating of both copper & fibre patch panels.
  • Planning & Organisation Skills
  • Self-starter and the ability to multi-task and deal with many projects simultaneously.
  • Understanding of basic Microsoft Suite applications
  • Problem Solving Skills
  • Communication Skills (Face to face, email & telephone)
  • Good Time Management & Prioritising Skills
  • Able to :
  • work well under pressure
  • go above & beyond when building new offices or Data Centres
  • be Alert when working out of normal working hours
  • work well within a team environment

Systems: Castle Rock, Geist Rack Net, Avocent Terminal Servers.

Applications : Microsoft Suite, AUTOCAD, iTRACS, Geist RACKNET, CastleRock (snmp), Dameware
MS Project, iTRACS.
