Eastern Florida State College is currently seeking applications for the full-time position of Database Administrator on the Cocoa Campus in Cocoa, Florida.
Salary & Benefit:The annual salary is $75,000. Successful internal candidates for external job postings should be aware that their current salary does not transfer to the new position. Salary will be as advertised in the job announcement. Full-time employees of Eastern Florida State College receive fringe benefits including health insurance and a retirement plan.
Position Concept:Responsible for administration, management, and support of the Banner ERP application, databases, interfaces, and related systems. The DBA plans, tests, and implements changes and upgrades to Banner and associated applications, and to Oracle and SQL databases. This involves security, optimization, backup/recovery planning & testing, and planning for expansion and growth.
Minimum Qualifications:
The following minimum qualifications for this position must be met before any applicant will be considered:
- Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and 2 years’ experience working in a similar database administrator role OR.
- Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and 3 years’ experience working in a similar database administrator role OR.
- High School Diploma or GED and 5 years’ experience working in a similar database administrator role.
- Proficiency supporting an Oracle RDBMS environment (database and tools).
- Experience performing database tuning, maintaining security, conducting backups, and optimizing an Oracle database environment.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with SQL language and concepts, including PL/SQL.
- Oracle DBA Certified Professional (OCP) (Preferred).
- Knowledge, experience, and skill in Ellucian Banner technical architecture (Preferred).
- Experience installing and configuring Ellucian Banner (Preferred)
- Experience supporting integration and maintenance of third-party applications that integrate with Ellucian Banner (Preferred).
- Experience with APIs and API management (Preferred).
- Ability to troubleshoot complex database and application issues and offer effective solutions quickly and accurately.
- Ability to manage multiple complex and time-sensitive projects simultaneously.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential issues and access to confidential information.
- Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours as necessary.
- Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License.
- This position will require successful fingerprinting and drug screening. The candidate chosen will be required to pay the associated fees (currently $37.25/$59.20). These fingerprinting and drug screening fees ($37.25/$59.20) are non-refundable.

- High School Diploma or GED or transcripts or official transcripts of all collegiate work (as appropriate for the position) must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Human Resources Office prior to the first day of employment. All foreign degrees must have a course-by-course official evaluation and translation sent to the Human Resources Office directly from an evaluation company affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc.
Minimum physical qualifications:
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
- Ability to occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to access, input and retrieve information and/or data from a computer. Works inside in an office environment.
- Works in or with moving vehicles and/or equipment.
- Works in noisy conditions.
