The Database Administrator's principal objective is to oversee daily operations of company-wide database and manage related projects. This role will work closely with the Engineering/IT departments to enhance and optimize company databases.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage installation and configuration of database platforms
- Design database backup and recovery strategies
- Oversee the maintenance and security measures of databases
- Proactively monitor database for performance tuning and optimization to eliminate performance bottlenecks.
- Develop, implement, test, and manage data disaster recovery plans.
- Work with developers to ensure database code meets company standards.
- Assist database developers with query performance through evaluation of execution plans, IO statistics, index structures, data contention, OS-performance counters, and SQL profiling.
- Provide formal and informal SQL Server lunch-and-learn sessions for company audiences.
- Champion best practices for efficient database designs including, but not limited to, tables, data types, stored procedures, functions, etc.
- Design and implement high-available RDBMS environments leveraging database technologies such as clustering, replication, database mirroring and log-shipping to ensure that systems are online and without service interruption.
- Actively develop and enhance existing standards, processes and procedures, and guidelines for database environments using industry experiences, best practices research, and business needs.
- Understands business strategy and cascades business intelligence needs to the database level.

- Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
- Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft SQL product stack, minimum of version 2005.
- Strong background in SQL
- Database and code performance monitoring, tuning and optimization Index design and maintenance.
- On-call troubleshooting for database server service outages and performance deficiencies.
- Experience with Failover clustering, SAN replication, and other high availability technologies.
- Strong skills relating to clustering, log shipping, mirroring, replication, etc.
- Working knowledge of Analysis Services, Integration Services, or Reporting Services
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
