Job description

A Dental Hygiene Assistant performs a variety of dental assisting duties while promoting quality dental care for our patients. This position will assist doctors/hygienists, teach the patients how to care for their teeth, communicate effectively with patients (parents if patient is a child), maintain equipment and inventory, and follows universal precautions and all OSHA requirements.

All licenses and certifications must be in good standing.

Must be BLS certified. Must have active X-ray certification.

Essential Duties

• Prepare for patients in advance by reviewing medical history, treatment plan and chart notes to know what will be done and how to set up for each patient.
• Prepare procedure set ups (trays) in advance.
• Clean and disinfect treatment rooms. Place protective barriers. Bring patient setups, trays and tubs and prepare for appointments.
• Seat patients and prepare them for the doctor/hygienists.
• Take X-rays (must be licensed).
• Familiar with Cerec/iTero technology.
• Other duties as assigned.

Pay: $17 - $24, based on experience.

Schedule: The office is open clincally Monday - Thursday 8 am - 5 pm.

Fredericksburg Smile Center started 35 years ago as a family practice. Dr. Joel Butterworth, current owner and Dentist, is the son of the Fredericksburg Smile Center founder, Dr. Cathie Seaman. Dr. Butterworth opened a second practice in January 2022, Ashland Smile Center. This position will be based out of the Ashland Smile Center location in Ashland, VA.
