Non-exempt; part-time; 21 hours per week; varied hours between Monday – Friday; 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.; no-benefits
This administrative position will provide administrative and clerical support for the Frederick County Developmental Center (FCDC) Dental Clinic. Direction may be received from the Fiscal Accounts Clerk, Dental. Supervision is received from the FCDC Director.
- Perform office reception duties, including welcoming children with and without disabilities and their families, adults with disabilities, and community agency representatives as they enter and exit the Dental Clinic
- Provide Spanish translation when appropriate
- Provide dental program information to visitors, telephone callers and electronic contacts
- Contact clients to schedule appointments and confirm by telephone as appropriate
- Collect and document fees dental services
- Utilize the data management system for data input, billing and client tracking
- Assist the Fiscal Accounts Clerk to input data for Medical Assistance billing on a monthly basis
- Update and maintain content and organization of dental records for clients
- As needed, serve as back-up for Fiscal Accounts Clerk
- Process postal and inter-office daily mail and perform other office support duties (filing, photocopies, FAX, etc.)

- High school graduation, or the equivalent
- Minimum 1 year administrative support work experience that includes working with the public
- Fluent in the Spanish language
- Intermediate skills in MS Office Suite
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Strong telephone communication skills, including the ability to effectively address callers’ questions and concerns, and provide information, assistance
- Strong and effective math and clerical skills, with the ability to accurately complete basic math functions and clerical/statistical assignments
- Ability to effectively create, update and maintain manual and computerized files, records and filing systems
- Ability to work with sensitive, personal information and maintain appropriate confidentiality consistent with HIPAA and FERPA regulations
- Strong and effective spoken and written (English) communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain policies and procedures
- Ability to effectively organize work, determine priorities and complete assigned duties with minimal supervision and instruction
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, clients and their family members, related agencies/organizations and the general public, with the ability to maintain a pleasant, professional demeanor while dealing with a wide variety of circumstances

- Experience working with children or adults with disabilities
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS:
- While working in this position, the employee is required to constantly reach and perform repetitive motions; and frequently sit and walk
- While working in this position, the employee is required to constantly work indoors, work near chemicals/fumes, and has potential exposure to infectious diseases
- This position is considered essential in the event of a public health emergency
