POSITION SUMMARY
The Dental Receptionist will work under the general and direct supervision of the Dental Manager, and collegially with the Supervising Dentist. In the absence of a Dental Manager, the incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Clinic Manager.
WORK HOURS
Monday & Tuesday 8AM-5PM
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedules appointments for new and existing patients in the dental, dental hygiene, and orthodontic programs.
- Maintains the dental section of patient records.
- Assists with the collection of revenue from patients for treatment provided.
- Verification of dental insurances and ensures eligibility for that day’s visit/ treatment.
- Maintains tracking logs used in patient care activities (laboratory case log, quick-call log, phone messages, etc.)
- Participates in monthly safety meetings such as BERT (Business Emergency Response Team)
- Verifies that lab cases are on hand for patients scheduled for such treatment the next day.
- Maintains a log of laboratory cases that are sent out and received.
- Assists patients in obtaining appointments with specialists to whom they were referred.
- Updates patient information in the patient record as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of GED or High School diploma is required
- Formal training or on-the-job training in dental assisting, with a minimum of one year of experience in office reception or dental assisting is preferred.
- Performs job duties in a friendly and strictly confidential manner.
- Obtains telephone confirmation of appointments for the next day’s scheduled patients including reminders of fees due whenever needed.
- Maintains a “quick-call” list of patients who can come in on short notice for use when last-minute vacancies arise in the schedule.
- Must have a Hepatitis B Vaccine or declination form signed (can be administered by Shingle Spring Health and Wellness Center)
- Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and be insurable by the Tribe’s auto insurer.
DRUG SCREEN
Shingle Springs Rancheria requires the successful completion of a drug screening of all potential Tribal employees prior to being hired. The Tribe recognizes that the State of California has legalized the use of marijuana. The Tribe is located on federally owned trust land and complies with federal laws. Therefore, marijuana use is prohibited, and all drug tests will include a screening for THC.
Shingle Springs Rancheria recognizes a zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy and employees will be required to sign a Consent to Drug and/or Alcohol Testing. Employees may be selected for alcohol/drug testing upon reasonable suspicion and upon any/all accidents.
BACKGROUND CHECK
Candidates for this position will be subject to criminal and character background checks and fingerprinting prior to being hired. Verification of previous employment and education will also be conducted after the interview if an offer of employment is being considered.

Preference in hiring is given to the most qualified applicant.
