Deputy Chief Medical Officer - Northwestern Arizona
Job description
Deputy Chief Medical Officer
North Country HealthCare is transforming healthcare for rural Arizonans as a primary care, federally qualified teaching health center. We bring more than 30 years of experience in practicing integrative care in an innovative culture. This approach allows us to reach and treat some of the most vulnerable rural populations in the United States. We have clinics in 12 communities throughout the northern half of Arizona. This Deputy would oversee the clinics in our western region, including the communities of Williams, Kingman, Seligman, Bullhead City, and Lake Havasu.
We drive key quality and cost outcomes that create value for patients, providers, and the overall health system. By fostering strong provider-patient-staff relationships, we can practice medicine the way it should be practiced.
Duties of the DCMO are approximately divided as 60% administrative, 40% clinical. You will continue as a practicing clinician in this role.
*How You Will Contribute*
- Assist the Chief Medical Officer by bringing together primary and multi-specialty care experts with ancillary medical services including behavioral health, dentistry, and pharmacy. Maximize clinician involvement in collaboration and promotion of a patient-centered medical home model.
- Collaborate with leaders across all organizational departments (including IT, Operations, Outreach, and Education) with a goal of comprehensive quality improvement for patients, providers, and staff.
- Build and manage projects to deliver welcoming, coordinated health care that improves health outcomes, the well-being of communities, efficiency, and the patient experience, particularly for underserved and marginalized populations.
- Lead the charge in creating a culture of wellness for patients along the health continuum, including preventive care, acute/urgent care, and treating multiple, complex, chronic illnesses. Invest in our patients by implementing strategies that prevent complications from chronic disease.
- Contribute expertise in leadership meetings to enhance accountability and collaboration, as well as foster ongoing innovation.
- Hire, manage, develop, and mentor providers. Develop CME opportunities and direct clinical teams in adhering to standard operating procedures including coding and other evidence-based medicine.
- Cultivate a uniform clinic culture of values, medical standards, and efficiency by serving as a role model for providers both clinically and with effective influence and managerial skills.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal guidelines and requirements. Participate as a member of the clinical executive committee.
*Minimum Qualifications*
- A medical degree (MD, DO) with a specialty in Internal or Family Medicine. Previous practice in a rural CHC or FQHC setting is preferred.
- A graduate degree or equivalent career experience in public health, business, law, public administration, health technology, or related quantitative field is preferred.
- Five years of clinical leadership within a healthcare organization preferred.
- Ability to live in Flagstaff or one of the western Arizona communities where clinics are located.
If you are an innovative over-achiever who is passionate about helping people, serving one of the most diverse populations in the US, we want to talk to you!
