This posting is for a Dermatology Nurse/Scribe for the Southern Pines Location.

Position Summary
The Dermatology Nurse/scribe can be a CMA/RMA/LPN/EMT or RN that supports the patient care mission by carrying out medical and administrative tasks in accordance with their scope of practice. Escorts patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, uses the EMR to make sure that the patient has the most accurate and up to date information in the records, and records information on patients' charts. In addition, coordinates and provides patient support services such as scheduling appointments, answering telephones, greeting patients and registering patients in a patient care area.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Works with the licensed nursing personnel in caring for the Pinehurst Medical Clinic patients.
  • The CMA/RMA/LPN/RN/EMT or RN in Dermatology works to scribe for the provider, administer numbing agents, assists with procedures and coordinates with the doctor/midlevels to assist with other duties as needed.
  • Reviews patient records, assuring they are complete with regard to previously ordered studies and assuring that EMA is up to date with PMC records.
  • Assures that examining rooms assigned are properly equipped with supplies and also assures that all equipment is in working order and orders supplies as needed.
  • Understands pre-certification process and may call for pre-certifications. Works with patient account representatives and secretary to facilitate referrals.
  • Works between the secretary and nursing personnel to keep the patient flow going smoothly.
  • Practices within in scope of practice.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • -Occasional Travel to cover in Sanford clinic may be required. Mileage rates and reimbursement for travel apply.

Qualifications

Education (Including Licenses and Certifications):
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant Certification or higher is required. Current CPR/BLS Certification is encouraged but can be obtained upon hire.

Experience:
One year of work experience in a clinic setting preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, medical supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control. Prior experience or knowledge of examinations, diagnostics, and treatment room procedures. Basic understanding of ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, and medical necessity as related to the ordering of laboratory work or procedures.

40 hours per week
