GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Division of Planning is seeking a highly creative individual who can utilize both a public relations and tech-savvy skillset to translate complex and technical planning policies and documents into digestible public outreach strategies in order to increase the Division’s visibility and public awareness within the community. The position is responsible for maintaining the Division’s website, social media platforms, and creating digital graphics and materials such as infographics, short videos, presentations, and other media.
The ideal candidate should be capable of working independently as well as collaborating with an experienced team. While a formal planning background is not required, one should desire to be highly engaged in the mission of Long-range Planning, often interacting with elected and appointed officials, advocacy groups, project consultants, and the public.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, computer science, graphic design, marketing, public relations, or related field
- Two (2) years of related experience
- Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience
- Additional years of related experience may substitute for years of education
- Partial years of credit may be granted for every 15 credit hours of education in an unrelated
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develop messaging strategies and materials for public outreach, education, and engagement
- Develops and manages online, social and emerging media communications, digital content, and graphic files
- Creates, updates, reviews, and approves content for the division’s web presence
- Manages the development, operations, functionality, and infrastructure of assigned websites
- Works with liaisons and other content contributors to maintain a consistent presentation throughout all web properties
- Coordinates web projects across departments, divisions, and/or other sections
- Reviews and responds to feedback messages from the general public and forwards to appropriate party if necessary
- Develops fillable online forms, exports and manages data, and runs websites reports
- Performs related work as assigned
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical.
- In accordance with CAO Policv. 23R "Acquisition of Real Property From Property Owners under Certain Notices and/or Orders", no employee who works in a Division with regulatory or civil enforcement authority over real property located in Fayette County shall acquire an interest in real property in Fayette County with any outstanding citation, notice or order from the Division in which he or she works regardless of whether the citation, notice, or order was issued by the employee or someone else in the Division. This policy extends to immediate family members and the Commissioner of the Department in which the identified employee is employed. Employees may be required to disclose all real property owned by the employee as well as his/her immediate family members. Property and business ownership exemptions may apply.
