Title: Digital Organizer

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary range: $70,000

Reports to: Director

Work Location: Remote but must be willing to work east coast hours

Families Belong Together, a campaign of the National Domestic Workers Alliance, is an immigrant justice campaign and loose coalition of nearly 250 organizations. Started in 2018 with Trump’s Zero Tolerance policy that separated children from their families, Families Belong Together has galvanized people across the country to fight to end family separation and detention in the U.S. immigration system in all its forms. We use a combination of organizing, campaigning and storytelling to shift the national narrative and win on critical policies to ensure people seeking safety at our borders have a dignified welcome.

We are looking for a motivated, self-starter to join our team with experience in digital organizing and campaigning to engage FBT’s dynamic base of supporters and inspire more people to action.

Your Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and coordinate high-impact digital campaigns that excite and engage FBT supporters, to win changes to support immigrant families, grow our activist base, raise funds, and inspire our member-organization partners.

  • Lead, expand, and drive creative thinking to find opportunities to engage supporters digitally, and across the organization, in Families Belong Together’s work and with our partners.

  • Expand FBT’s storytelling by weaving a larger narrative through multiple digital campaigns that help show the “why” behind our work while also centering equity.

  • Manage the email process, with the support of an email consultant, from beginning to end: drafting and editing email copy, securing input and approval, setting up and sending the emails and action pages through our CRM, running QA, approvals coordination, analyzing the results to help us make better decisions going forward, and identifying appropriate next steps in the campaign.

  • Manage FBT’s backend data in order to use a data-driven approach to engaging our audiences and base.

  • Coordinate FBT’s language justice work, ensuring greater access to non-native English speakers.

  • Support the content and growth for FBT’s social media platforms, working closely with the Communications Manager and creative agency to put out educational, engaging content.

  • Support the Welcome With Dignity campaign’s organizing efforts; one of FBT’s campaign priorities in 2021

  • Develop and grow FBT’s digital audience

  • Support the creation of basic visual content as needed.

Skills

  • 2-3 or more years in digital campaigning experience or related field such as organizing, data, communications, or journalism

  • An exceptional writer, listener, and strategic problem-solver with an ability to write in a clear and compelling way, whether it’s engaging emails to motivate our activists to take action; providing input on toolkits that will be used movement-wide; or sharing concise, informative updates to other staff members.

  • A strategic sense with the ability to identify political opportunities where grassroots and online activism can deliver progressive victories, and the ability to articulate the strategic rationale for actions to diverse audiences.

  • A movement builder with deep ties to communities of color, and committed for the long-term to build power with marginalized communities;

  • Experience and proficiency using digital tools, including a CRM system (example: ActionKit, ControlShift, or others); Experience with Every Action is a plus;

  • Self-reflective—able to give, receive, and implement feedback;

  • Self-motivated to drive campaigns from pitch to strategy to implementation with the resources at hand;

  • Direct and collaboration-oriented communicator who is able to manage group dynamics in order to move discussions toward decisions and action;

  • Demonstrated ability to work remotely and ability to work in a fast-paced environment;

  • Skilled at managing multiple projects simultaneously;

  • Ability to interpret digital metrics and incorporate learnings into day-to-day social;

  • Alignment with Families Belong Together’s vision and values; passionate about the intersection of gender, race, and immigrant justice.

Preferences will be given to candidates with:

  • Graphic design and photography editing skills

  • Bilingual English/Spanish speakers with the ability to write, edit and converse in both languages

Background:

The National Domestic Workers Alliance, organizes domestic workers in the United States for respect, recognition and labor standards. We work to guarantee labor protections for domestic workers by winning legislation at the state level, pushing for regulatory changes at the national level, through the International Labor Organization at the global level, and elevating domestic workers as key leaders in building a powerful movement for a more just economy and democracy.

NDWA was founded in 2007 by 13 local domestic worker organizing projects around the country. By 2016, the alliance had grown to include 60 affiliate organizations and 3 chapters. In 2016, we launched our membership association in order to dramatically increase our scale, power and sustainability. While most of our core leaders are engaged as leaders in NDWA affiliate organizations and chapters, the vast majority of our members will be workers who we engage with remotely and online.

Women, People of Color, People with Disabilities and LGBTQ people are strongly encouraged to apply.

NDWA is a union employer, this position is a bargaining unit position.

Please submit a cover letter, resume, and writing sample.

Please include a daytime phone number where we can contact you. This position will remain open until filled.
