Summary
Provides leadership to Direct Support Professionals (I, II). Plans and provides group and individual instruction to assist each consumer to gain his/her fullest potential and meet Individual Program Plan goals and objectives through a specialized skills that furthers person centered service excellence. Assumes full case management record keeping responsibility as assigned. Provides individual consumer assistance in areas of self-care, toileting, feeding, and mobility and other areas based on an individual’s needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Plans, organizes, and provides learning experiences related to assigned subject being taught in both classroom and community environments.
2. Provides supervision and training of consumers at job sites, community training sites, and the classroom.
3. Assists in the Time Studies process for consumers involved in paid work.
4. Maintains attendance records and all required documentation and reports per agency procedures.
5. Maintains records and documentation of progress, follow-up and completes data collection on a regular basis as required by supervisor and funding sources.
6. Participates in the consumer’s assessment, planning and evaluation process.
7. Assists in the development and maintenance of Community Resource Sites.
8. Demonstrates job duties and tasks to consumer and observes consumer performing tasks to ensure understanding of job duties. Confers with consumer to explain or to demonstrate task again in order to resolve learning/performance related difficulties.
9. Maintains consumer payroll information in a legible, accurate and timely manner. Submits accurate and complete payroll information to supervisor when due.
10. Gives individual consumer assistance, support and motivation as necessary. Assists consumers with their self-help needs, including support in the areas of grooming, hygiene, toileting, feeding and mobility.
11. Maintains consumer and program confidentiality.
12. Implements and maintains of consumer behavior management plans.
13. Maintains a professional relationship with employers, consumers, parents and care providers and others as appropriate.
14. Responsible for meeting the standards specific to program and independent employment sites, including dress code and work quality and quantity requirements.
15. Requests necessary program supplies using established procedures in a timely manner.
16. Attends and participates in all required meetings and training sessions.
17. Demonstrates on a daily bases the organization’s Vision, Mission and Core Values.
18. Ensures safety and welfare of staff and consumers and follows adopted procedures in order to report accidents, hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions to immediate supervisor. Is a mandated reporter of suspected abuse and will follow all guidelines established to meet this requirement.
19. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience
Associate Degree from an accredited college/university or equivalent with one year related experience and/or training of hands-on direct care experience with persons with developmental disabilities. Must demonstrate specialized skills in an area that furthers person centered service excellence, which includes but is not limited to the following: culinary arts, fitness, horticulture, music, performing arts, self-advocacy, technology, visual arts, etc. Must possess a current CPR/First Aid certification throughout the duration of employment. Must have a valid California Drivers license, have 24 months of driving experience, and be able to transport consumers in an Arc vehicle.

Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability multi-tasking ability and detail orientated skills. Dedication and desire to work with persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic hands-on experience with MS Office/email.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit. Fine motor actions of hands, wrists and fingers are required along with the ability to withstand repetitive hand, wrist and finger movement. The ability to use hands to manipulate finger, handle or feel is required. The employee must be able to reach with hands and arms; and to talk, see and hear. The employee maybe required to stoop or crouch. The employee must be able lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

This position works in an office/classroom environment and/or within the community at a variety of different work environments. While performing the duties of this job, will be exposure to bodily fluids and secretions that require proper handling or disposal, and exposure to chemicals in related to cleaning products. Coping with occasional behavior problems may expose the employee to physical risk. The noise level in the work environment normally moderate. The necessity for commuting within the community also subjects this position to all hazards normally associated with vehicular travel.
