Job description
Under general direction, the Underground Drill Operator safely operates the directional drill to place product underground then locate the drill head to understand elevation changes and make decisions on depths to drill at to avoid hitting underground utilities.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Identify, locate, and mark underground utilities in order to minimize accidental damage or disruption of service due to construction activities
- Safely operate drill rig equipment
- Pull cable through underground conduit
- Pothole all utilities that will either be paralleled or crossed during the bore shot.
- Place, maintain or remove underground utilities as directed, including carrying pipe, and other heavy items, jackhammering, shoveling, tamping, and installing pipe
- Knowledge of utility depths and placements
- Ability to drill in both standard and high-risk areas, such as areas with live utilities
