Due to our expanding market penetration we are currently recruiting for an experienced Directional Drill Operator to join our growing team.

Position Summary:

The Directional Drill Operator will operate horizontal/directional drill rigs, locating equipment and product support equipment for the installation of underground utilities including telecommunications cable, conduit, gas distribution, and fiber optic cable.

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of work practices related to the telecommunication construction field to support underground utility infrastructure construction including safe operation of equipment, appropriate PPE and participating in daily and weekly safety talks.

Responsibilities:

  • Operates various equipment including mini-excavators, plows trenchers and directional bore machines for the installation or maintenance of underground utilities.
  • Ensure all applicable permits, clearances and locates are complete and on site and confirm bore path with install foreman and drill operator (including walking the bore path)
  • Conduct manual labor activities including use of power tools, jack-hammers and trench tamping equipment, digging around existing utilities, placing conduit, placing hand holes, placing manholes, backfilling and compacting.
  • Responsible for daily maintenance of equipment such as maintaining fluids, greasing equipment as required and other routine maintenance as necessary.
  • Must be familiar with OSHA Regulations regarding trench safety.
  • Ability to work under pressure, with commitment to deadlines in a changing environment and work as a team member.

Minimum Qualification:

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience with construction, excavation, and related directional drill operation required.
  • A valid Class A CDL license required.
